Formula
Tile area = side² ÷ 144 square feet. Count = room area ÷ tile area, adjusted for waste and rounded up.
Recommended workflow
- Measure the room; break irregular plans into sections.
- Use actual tile size and check direction/pattern.
- Round to whole cartons and retain matching spares where practical.
Limitations
Area calculation does not create a layout; doorways, columns, pattern, adhesive, and underlayment affect installation.
